Oil-on-ivory miniature portrait depicts President William Henry Harrison. It was painted from life in 1841 and is probably the last image of him created before his death. The portrait has a gold mount with a pin on the back. The work is engraved on the back: "Painted from life by Jas. Gorman Cinti 1841 for Geo. Selves, Esq."

Gorman exhibited six untitled miniature portraits at the Society for the Promotion of Useful Knowledge and three at the Cincinnati Academy of Fine Arts. The artist's work in Cincinnati dates from 1838-1843. William Henry Harrison (1773-1841) was born in Virginia.
